Ramadan - The Month of Blessings!

2:40 PM

It's here, just a few more hours and we'll enter the month of blessings. So let us prepare ourselves for this holy month.

We will be fasting and be praying and doing wonderful iftars with our loved ones.

For my Non-Mulsim readers- Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic Lunar Calendar. During this month Muslims around the world spends the daylight in complete fast abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset; which is Suhoor/Sehri to Iftar. It only includes fasting but keeping yourselves away from any sinful acts, speech and spending more time in prayers.

It also helps us practice for self-discipline and develop empathy for those who are less fortunate.

Suhoor/Sehri the most important part of the fast. Meaning partaking of food shortly before dawn.

There are a lot of blessings of Sehri which we often neglect:
  • 'Sunnah' is followed.
  • Provides strength for 'Ibaadah' prayers.
  • It promotes greater sincerity in 'Ibaadah'.
  • It aids in the elimination of bad temper- which results from hunger.
  • It is the time when prayers are accepted.
  • Ability to reach Allah for blessing, make dhikr and lift our hands to him and ask for forgiveness.
Iftar is an Arabic word, which literally means "to break". In Islamic terms, it means to break the fast, that's when you can eat and drink. Iftar is not simply a matter of having dinner, in fact, it has great significance. It is the partaking of a combination of spiritual and physical food.

After the daylong fast, one actually gets to know the importance of food and water and the blessings we have, without which we cannot survive. We get a chance to thank Almighty Allah for all that we have been blessed with.

Iftar also has the same blessings as Sehri, It is the time for thanking Allah and reaching Allah for forgiveness.

Make the most of this Holy Month and try to forgive and be forgiven. Spread love and peace and share the best you can. Spend more time praying and less for leisure.

Also, make sure to help the needy and give as much as you can. As Allah, no doubt is there to answers all our prayers and to help at each step of our lives.

Love.
